“A Genuine Fijian Experience”

I have traveled all over the world and it is rare to come across an amazing place like Oneta. This is not your cookie-cutter eco-resort but rather a place that leaves an everlasting mark in your mind and your heart.

The location on the remote island of Ono takes your breath away with its “50 and more shades of blue” waters and with traditional bures tucked away in the lush
tropical setting. There is also no shortage of activities.

“Fishing World Class Level”

Absolute Stunning!!!!

My Partner and I had an absolute stunning and beautiful stay at Oneta. We had just 2 nights at the resort but it felt like 2 weeks. Starting from the amazing beautiful huts in traditional design perfectly matching the overall natural and tropical environment, every delicious traditional food to the lovely owners and the friendly local staff. When you arrive your feel “WOW PARADISE”, the second thing you will feel is “WOW IT’S LIKE HOME” because the owners and the staff make the place feel your are home. They are lovely to chat with and of course they are amazing hosts helping with absolute anything you need.

“A Fantastic Place With Fantastic People”

The staff and owner were amazing, so friendly and our every whim was catered for. The resort was clean, tidy and very beautiful. Some of the staff guys took my husband along with them night fishing (their way!) He came back exhausted, but said he had a fantastic ‘local’ experience! We did some day fishing on the resort boat, caught some fish which they barbecued for us that night, delicious. Did lots of snorkelling, seeing beautiful corals, amazing fish, turtles and the odd shark. One of the staff, Joe, took us on a walk over the hill down to the village and school, lovely to see. Another highlight was the sunset cruise to bird island. All the staff are amazing, Sim, Lorro, Gabi, Elenoa the cook, Ben, John the manager and Liz the owner. (Sorry if I’ve left anyone out). Fantastic place with fantastic people. Hope to return one day.

“Way Beyond Our Already High Expectations”

Wow, wow, wow!! Words cannot really describe this amazing place and team… we stayed at the resort for 7 days and as soon as we arrived we were upgraded to a bigger Bure by the incredibly friendly owners. The traditional bures are beautifully decorated with flowers in and out at your arrival and are really comfortable and well equipped with a lovely outdoor shower. You will be spoiled with fresh and healthy food every single day prepared with great care by the Chef Elenoa.

The atmosphere breathed in this places made us feel like we were staying with our own family in a remote island. They put a lot of effort into making you feel like in a dream and OMG they are good at it!! We had amazing dives in the astrolabe reef and we saw there much better coral, and marine life in general, than in the Great Barrier. After not being successful in our first try, they kept on trying to make us live a magical experience snorkeling with manta rays (really close encounter). We’ll always be in debt!!

   “A True gem!”

We do not often write reviews but after our latest trip to Oneta we DO want to join the band of Trip Advisor reviewers and add our accolades to this wonderful little place. We booked a two week stay at Oneta.  We are not divers, we don’t fish, we aren’t into hammock lying but we are very keen snorkelers. Would two weeks be just a bit too long to spend in the one place? Well, we need not have worried, we could have easily spent another two weeks exploring the pristine reefs of the Ono Island area.

We have been fortunate to travel to many, many places to pursue our snorkeling passion and can say that Oneta is up there with some of the best that we have encountered. Stunning corals of vibrant colors stretch for miles, colorful fish and amazing anemone sacs complete their resident “Nemos” kept us enthralled for hours.

   “Perfect Place”

Visited in February and had a feeling that I want to keep that place for myself, not sharing with anybody- so good the place is! Attitude from the manager and all the staff was so great, so friendly- we simply loved and enjoyed every minute of our stay. It’s nice to see that all the staff is smiling from morning to evening, they are all like one family, and you feel like being family member.

Bures are nice and clean, best toiletries, amazing food, Ben announcing dinner- one of great things, nice beach, very helpful staff. My wife loved snorkeling and guides for that activity. We are definitely coming back for more.

   “Gorgeous in all respects”

We were extremely fortunate to stay at Oneta Resort for the second half of our trip to Fiji this past November. As soon as we arrived at the Vunisea Airport on Kadavu Island, crossed the street, and climbed on board the speedboat for our journey to Ono Isand, we knew we were about to start an amazing adventure.

The general manager, Richard, and the rest of the resort staff were very attentive to our every need, and we felt like we had been welcomed into a family’s luscious estate, set in paradise. The resort is LGBTQ friendly, and its remote setting was ideal for a truly tropical experience.

   “The best place to unwind”

My partner and I decided to go here after a chance meeting with the owner. We were looking for somewhere off the beaten track to unwind after working in Fiji for a few months.

Richard the manager and his team were all very welcoming and made us feel at home.  If you are into diving or fishing this place is one of the finest. Diving was spectacular. My partner was new to diving but Lotti our instructor made him feel very comfortable and was good at judging our capabilities. Some of the most beautiful coral I have seen and I have been diving around most of Asia and the Pacific.

   “Real Fiji, Real Adventure”

Oneta Resort is unique among “resorts” as it is a place to immerse yourself in the environment, the culture, and the experience. It’s not for the idle. There is so much to DO – snorkel, dive, fish or swim with the mantas. (If indeed you want a special day of relaxing, just ask and they will boat you over to your own private island!) Richard, the new manager, is a master of organization. With only 5 bures, Richard and the wonderful staff will make you feel like each day was designed just for you. Want to snorkel? You can join a scuba boat for the day, or if you want gentler waters a boat will be powered up just for you.

Underwater ocean lovers of all persuasions will be happy to see that the surrounding Astrolabe Reef is still healthy and unaffected (to date) by the global warming that has damaged so much of the Pacific. It is a magic garden of color and life. For us, Oneta Resort was the highlight travel of the year. Perhaps of a lifetime.

“Paradise with my favorite Fijian family”

We enjoyed our stay at Oneta resort so much last year that we just had to come back again! It was so lovely to see everyone with their smiling faces waiting for us again. We were greeted with big friendly hugs and traditional flower necklaces, a nice traditional touch. We were so excited to see all the changes and improvements that have been made since our visit last year.

This time we stayed for 10 nights with our ‘Fijian family’. It’s too hard to list all the fun things we did. Let’s just say, Sim and Loro made sure the big fish were biting. Ben and Jerry lined up the Manta-rays who put on an unforgettable show with 7 cruising past us at once.

   “A Little Slice of Paradise”

This resort is the perfect getaway for families! The rooms, which were individual bures, were beautifully decorated and comfortable (we stayed in Shark Alley and Vesi). The bathroom was modern with a private outdoor shower – perfect for cleaning up after our days in the ocean. The beach outside the resort leads to an amazing untouched reaf which was perfect for snorkeling. My sons enjoyed the daily fishing trips with Simi and caught HUGE “GT” fish.

We enjoyed hiking to a remote waterfall, visiting a local village for church, swimming with the manta rays, a sunset cruise to “Bird” island, and the of course, I can’t say enough about the staff – who bent over backwards to make sure we were well taken care of. The farewell kava ceremony was also amazing!
