Our Team
Here is a glimpse of the very best resort team in Fiji. (Just ask Oneta returning guests or see our Trip Advisor reviews) Primary job responsibilities are listed, but every single team member can be found pitching in to assist their teammates (who are also family members in many instances) wherever and whenever needed. That care for one another is the Fijian way and the Oneta way — and the real reason why our guests return again and again.

Richard Mercer
General Manager
The General Manager, Richard Mercer, who discovered Oneta in late 2017 while searching for the perfect fishing vacation, is now the incomparable leader of this uniquely capable Oneta Team. He expertly arranges and guides the daily activities by moving around guests, staff and boats as dictated by weather, wind and tides. Richard hails from an established Fijian hospitality family and spent his childhood days in the village of Waivunia on Savu Savu while his parents Lynette and Robin Mercer managed Kon Tiki Lodge and Namali.
He spent his carefree childhood with cane knife in hand before heading to a boarding school in New Zealand at the tender age of eight. Richard is the first person to greet guests and the last to wave goodbye — and is an integral part of the evening bar and dinner conversations.

Our family (Liz, Martin and our two kids Eva and Noah) have spent many years travelling the world before landing on this amazing spot in the Kadavu Archipelago. It is a home for us, a home for our incredible staff and we hope our guests will consider it as their home away from home as well.
